Week 29

Merry Christmas!!!

Our Thanksgiving was pretty chill. I wouldn't say it was my favorite day ever but the members took us in so much and the food was yummy! We had one dinner with some members in Liberty Park which was sooo cute. It reminded me of our Thanksgiving at home. Our second dinner was with our WML in Capo, his wife, and my bestie Brother Oronoz. That one was yummy too! We got to call home for an hour afterwards and let's just say I was a little puddle.

Thanksgiving morning we got to run the Giving Machine in Dana Point! Not a lot of people came, but it was a good time nonetheless. They have a huge turkey trot in Dana so it was fun to see everyone in their Turkey fits and hear the music.

We met a lot of cool people this week! Our new bestie Emily is a senior at San Juan and she'll be baptized. Cricket is doing well too! We're planning a fun Christmas baptism and I'm so excited. 

All the last transfer missionaries give a departing spiritual thought on our Sunday night mission wide night zoom (lets go) so Sister Brown gave hers last night. A theme that I've seen in my own life recently is change, and she shared this quote by C.S Lewis that I love:

"Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently he starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of—throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace."

If we allow God to change us through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we will become who He would have us become. I've been focusing on turning myself over to God and letting Him change me from a little cottage to a palace. I invite you all to do the same! It isn't comfortable, but I have confidence it'll be worth it.

We have so much going on this upcoming week!! Lots of Christmas events and parties YAYAYA. Everyone make sure to do light the world. I love you all.

Week 11

Surprise it's Wednesday. Our pday was switched because we got to go to the temple today!! I miss being able to go to the temple whenever. We're assigned a day every other transfer. This week was one of my favorites so far. The hard parts made it even better which I'll talk more about later. I went on an exchange with Sister Thomas (the new Sister in our zone) and it was awesome! Two little missionaries hanging out all day. She goes home the same transfer as me because I'm assigned 13 so we're in this thing together. We had zone conference and San Clemente had interviews with President/Sister Carter, so I got to see them a lot! Have I mentioned they're the greatest? Wow okay Sunday!! This sounds dramatic but it could've been my favorite day on the mission so far. We had a lesson with a marine named Wetterman on Saturday (which he brought his friend Williamson to) and they both showed up to church the next day! Week 19

Hiiii everyone! I love my mission. Update on Cricket is that she's been quite unresponsive what?! Homecoming was this past week and let me tell you the high schools here go ALL OUT for everything- especially dances. So she was really living up the homecoming week, attended a few youth activites (which we didn't know about until after the fact), and therefore did not meet with us. She still wants to get baptized on the 28th which is the funny thing. We were like okay Cricket, in order for you to be prepared for your baptism we need to have at least 5 more lessons because we have so much to teach still. She got the memo but then didn't get the memo and we didn't have a single lesson. In conclusion, baptism is happening but probably getting pushed back which is still a win. Luisa is my favorite. I love her so much. She loves the gospel of Jesus Christ! She's been an amazing example to me of being eager to learn more. We send her lots of chapters/general conference talk...
