Week 27
Elder Wada from the seventy came to our stake conference this week! He's awesome and I learned so much from him about the importance of diving into the scriptures and really studying them. We had a mini meeting with him, the missionaries in our stake, and the youth! It was really cool experience!
We met someone named Jeff and had a great lesson with him! He's hilarious and gave us a bag of limes from the tree in his backyard. When we got out of the car, I had a bit of a rough go and ended up locking the keys in the car. We called the towing company and they came a while later to help us out. You'd think something catastrophic happened with the volume of the beeps from the tow truck holy cow. Jeff texted us a few days later and was like, "I think you'll be happy to hear I started the Book of Mormon and read it for 3 hours straight. Thank you for sharing the word of God with me." SO COOL.
We had to send Julian to the other ward because we found out he's not in our area. During our pass off lesson, a random guy pulled up a chair and sat with us to listen in. He told us he was the last descendant of Jesus Christ and went on a schpeal about his mission in life. It was quite the story. Sister Miller and I were like what do we even do. We got it figured out and the lesson ended up bueno. I'm going to miss Julian so much.
Luisa came to our Relief Society activity and I told her one of us was going to leave in a week for transfers. She started crying and it literally broke my heart. She is the sweetest. Lucky for me, I'm staying!! President is quite the teaser when it comes to transfers so I thought for sure I was leaving, but alas I am staying and will be a stl. Sister Miller is flying away from the nest and she'll do great. I'll miss her!
I read "wrestling with comparisons" by Elder Haws (BYU speech), and he said "We don’t discover humility by thinking less of ourselves; we discover humility by thinking less about ourselves." I love this truth! We need to think less about our own worries/trials and focus on serving others. This is something I'm constantly striving to do!
