Week 24
We went to the temple this morning and it was amazing! I hadn't been since there were changes in the endowment session so that was really cool.
I read "The Holy Invitation" by Anthony Sweat this week to prepare for the temple and I would HIGHLY reccomend it. In the beginning, he talks about how God promised Joseph Smith that if he went to Ohio, they would be endowed with power from on high. As they were preparing to make this covenant, they worked to cleanse themselves to be ready to enter into God's presence. Later, they had a very sacred experience of seeing Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father face to face.
While I was reading this part in the book, I felt the spirit testify to me so strongly that these things are true. I remember looking up at my wall with all my pictures of Jesus Christ and I was overwhelmed with a sense of His presence. I know Jesus Christ is walking right along side us. He is in every part of our lives! He appeared to Jospeh Smith and other priesthood holders many times but specifically that day. I'm so grateful to be a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints- the true and living gospel. My invitation is to not only go to the temple often, but prepare to enter into His house.
The quick friend update is that no, wedding bells did not ring for Nora and Fransisco. And we don't want them to. Nora is in a very tough situation but she still wants to be baptized and be involved in the church. We had a Relief Society activity on Saturday where Hank Smith came and spoke to our ward! Nora came to that and church on Sunday!
We had the infamous trunk or treat and I can see now why it's such a big deal. They go all out. We had a few friends come to that and church yay!
One new person to note is Julian. We met him at Mission San Juan Capistrano which is basically an old western looking place. I love it so much. Vacation there if you get the chance. He's probably the most elect person I've met before- so ready and engaged to hear the gospel. The Book of Mormon font is too small for him to read in a physical copy, so he handed me his phone to download the app. I moved his music app so I could put the BoM on that main tab bar and made sure to turn on the "daily verse" notifications. I had tears running down my face because I thought I was the funniest person ever but I was trying to be secretive about what I was doing. I hope those daily verses are treating him well.
