Week 23
I said this week would be a good one and it did not disppoint. This has been my favorite week on the mission! So many amazing things happened and we saw so many miracles!!
Elder Pingree from the seventy and Sister Pingree came to our mission for zone conference!! Last week after we put Nora and Fransisco on date, President Carter called us and said "Sisters, next Wednesday at 6:30 can you have a lesson with Nora and Fransisco?" And we were like "Sure we'll ask them President! Why?" And he says, "Sister Carter and Sister Pingree are going to join you for a lesson." WHAT?! We were so excited and so nervous all week hahaha.
Story time. Sister Carter calls us the day before to ask about the lesson plan. We told her that we needed to teach the Word of Wisdom and Law of Chastity (as I mentioned last week) and she was like oh boy okay. Wednesday night rolls around and it was time for the lesson. At first it was so awkward because Nora and Fransisco only have 4 seats at their table so we were trying to find more seats and were basically playing musical chairs. Once that was settled, we jumped right in! Sister Carter and Sister Pingree were awesome!! Their testimonies brought so much into the lesson. We were nervous to ask the big invite but took a leap of faith. Fransisco turned to look at his alochol cabinet and was like "Oh ya that? We don't drink." We thought he was kidding but turns out they just collect it and will offer it to guests. MIRACLES.
We had zone conference the next day and wow it was awesome! Elder Pingree is hilarious. There was an emphasis on the Atonement of Jesus Christ which led to a lot of talk about the Plan of Salvation. I keep being reminded of the importance of the Plan. That's something I'm going to really study this week especially because we get to go to the temple next Tuesday!! I'm so excited yay!!
Remember how Nora and Fransisco said they would keep the law of chastity and obey the word of wisdom? Well we found out the next day that they aren't married. They were married once, divorced, and have been together again for a few years. I think they were nervous to say that the day before and I'm kind of glad they didn't haha. So evereyone please pray for a wedding this week.
Jan is on date!!!!! It's the day everyone has been waiting for! She's on date for November 16th. We love her so much.
Yesterday was spirit filled. In our first ward we had the primary program!! It was sooo cute. The song "A child's prayer" always gets me. And Anthony and Cricket came to church! In our second ward, I gave a talk on recognizing and following the promptings of the spirit. It's so crazy how speaking doesn't make me nervous anymore. I was just trying to hype of the other speakers and lean on Jesus Christ in my talk.
Last night we had a primary baptism in our Capistrano ward and Luisa came!! She loved it so much. Everyone was asking her what she thought/felt afterwards and she kept saying "powerful." Her favorite part was when the priesthood holders made a circle around Cy and gave him the gift of the Holy Ghost. We are so blessed to have the priesthood power restored to the earth and in our homes!! That's something I hope to never take for granted.
In zone conference we talked about prayer in the bible dictionary. One part says, "The object of prayer is not to change the will of God but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant but that are made conditional on our asking for them." This is key when we are praying. He's going to grant us blessings that are aligned with His will. We just need to ask!
