Week 19

Hiiii everyone! I love my mission.

Update on Cricket is that she's been quite unresponsive what?! Homecoming was this past week and let me tell you the high schools here go ALL OUT for everything- especially dances. So she was really living up the homecoming week, attended a few youth activites (which we didn't know about until after the fact), and therefore did not meet with us. She still wants to get baptized on the 28th which is the funny thing. We were like okay Cricket, in order for you to be prepared for your baptism we need to have at least 5 more lessons because we have so much to teach still. She got the memo but then didn't get the memo and we didn't have a single lesson. In conclusion, baptism is happening but probably getting pushed back which is still a win.

Luisa is my favorite. I love her so much. She loves the gospel of Jesus Christ! She's been an amazing example to me of being eager to learn more. We send her lots of chapters/general conference talks and she always reads them! She's having some troubles feeling worthy enough to be baptized, so we've prayed about it and can hopefully help her understand Jesus Christ's atonement and grace.

Jan is my homie. She's an old lady who's been coming to church for 2 years but still hasn't been baptized. I think Sister Miller and I are getting to her though... stay tuned. Vickie and Greg are two others to note, so keep them in your prayers!

I wanted to talk about divine law vs relative truth. President Nelson talks about this in his book "Heart of the Matter" and it's something I've grown very passionate about. He was talking about it in terms of open heart surgery but divine laws are things that can't be changed. It compares to principles in the gospel of Jesus Christ like the fact that we are children of a Heavenly Father. Many people feel all truth is relative and that we can live just being "spiritual" but the truth is, we have to build our foundation on these divine laws because when the winds and storms come we will not be shaken. (Helaman 5:12) If our foundation is built on relative truth it's like the foolish man who built his house on the sand and it washed away. So, build your foundation on divine law! Read your scriptures and study foundational principles! This is how we can survive spiritually!

We have a keyboard at our apartment and I love it. I wish I would've stuck with piano longer- shoutout to my mom who always said I would say that one day. Also thanks for everyone's emails hyping me up!! I love you all so much!!
