Week 5
Wow this week has been an eternity but also flew by. Specifically Friday which I'm convinced was actually a few days long. We woke up at 4:30 to catch the bus and train to the airport. Ate some yummy panera before the flight- yay for breakfast sandwhiches and smoothies!
The Carters and APs were waiting for us at the aiport. Got our luggage and headed to the mission office for some paperwork, lunch, and interviews with President Carter. He is the absolute best! I'm so blessed to have him and Sister Carter. They love hiking, skiing, and boat surfing so we immediately clicked. We then met our trainors and left for our new homes!
I'm serving in San Clemente in a YSA area! It's really pretty. We get to see the ocean lots! My trainer, Sister Hill, is SO COOL. I look up to her so much. We're white washing the area (meaning both of us are new), she's a solo STL, and she's training me so has a lot on her plate but handles it phenomenally.
Friday night, we unpacked for a minute and went finding in a costal parking lot. Lots of surfers and people having picnics. The church has seriously fine tuned missions! It was crazy to learn about all the in depth reporting and scheduling we do. Reminds me of charting as a cna because we would record everthing that happens.
Saturday was lots of training and finding. In the mtc, Sister Easton taught us to dap up our tags when leaving in the morning so we wouldn't forget them and I didn't do that so I forgot my tag the first day on the job.
On Sunday morning we had some time before church, so we drove/walked to a pier! It was very peaceful and quiet. The ocean is one of God's greatest creations. I'm so excited to be by it for the next 18 months! And church was awesome. We're very blessed to get to take the sacrament every week and renew our covenants.
Quick spiritual thought is John 16:33, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." I love this verse so much. When my mission president asked why I decided to serve a mission, I was telling him that if God can give His only begotten Son, and if Christ can atone for every single sin, then I can and want to serve a mission to give back in any way I can! He has overcome the world, so we can be of good cheer!
