Week 15

The last week in paradise. It's been one to remember. I am indeed leaving San Clemente which is tragic but you know what's even crazier is I'm training a new missionary- what?! I swear I just got to California yesterday. I've talked about humility a bit on these emails, and I think this is God giving me an experience that will really humble me. We're white washing an area and I won't find out where until transfers on Wednesday. It'll be an adventure and I'm excited for it!!

Lessons on base on Saturday were great. I got my last peanut butter smoothie and we talked to the cute girl who usually runs the shop. Her husband just finished his 4 year contract but decided to re-enlist. I've grown so much empathy for the marines and their families like it is not an easy thing. Left me feeling very patriotic. Our friend Beddingfield gave us a spaghetti MRE (meal ready to eat) and it was definitely something. It comes with raisens and a crystal light pack so they'll mix the two together and call it "field sour patch." I would not recommend- maybe a 3/10.
All our marine friends came to church on Sunday wooo. We talked to Braden about the Word of Wisdom (which apparently he's been keeping his whole life) and I said my goodbyes.

Our ysa ward was pretty chill. Nothing crazy on that front. Leslie is our most progressing friend right now besides Luna and Zoe. Our finding last week was wild- we met a lot of cool people with a lot of potential so yay for that. One of our go to finding spots is Salt Creek and it is beautiful let me tell you. I will be living on that beach after my mission.

Sister Hill has been wanting me to teach her how to dance so at our gym I tried having her do some simple improve and she was not a fan. I ended up teaching her some random moves and she loved it haha it was the best.

We had a stake correlation meeting at 7am yesterday morning, so we had from 8-9 to do whatever before the missionary day starts and we go to base for church. We decided to go to the pier and guess what? A mini surfing competition was happening and it was awesome. We watched from up above on the pier- twas a vibe. I'm going to seriously miss this place.

Spiritual thought for the week comes from the good book. I'm reading in Ether and holy cow I love the faith the brother of Jared had. Ether 6:6-12 are some of my favorite verses talking about them traveling to the promised land. It took them 344 days of being buried and tossed around in the sea to finally make it but it says "they did not cease to praise the Lord." Verse 12 talks about how immediately when they get to shore they "did humble themselves before the Lord, and did shed tears of joy before the Lord, because of the multitude of his tender mercies over them." We can make anything out of any situation and when we recognize the Lord's hand through it all we will realize the "multitude of tender mercies" he has blessed us with. I love our Savior!

Adios San Clemente y mi amigos. Until next time.
