Week 11
Surprise it's Wednesday. Our pday was switched because we got to go to the temple today!! I miss being able to go to the temple whenever. We're assigned a day every other transfer.
This week was one of my favorites so far. The hard parts made it even better which I'll talk more about later. I went on an exchange with Sister Thomas (the new Sister in our zone) and it was awesome! Two little missionaries hanging out all day. She goes home the same transfer as me because I'm assigned 13 so we're in this thing together.
We had zone conference and San Clemente had interviews with President/Sister Carter, so I got to see them a lot! Have I mentioned they're the greatest?
Wow okay Sunday!! This sounds dramatic but it could've been my favorite day on the mission so far. We had a lesson with a marine named Wetterman on Saturday (which he brought his friend Williamson to) and they both showed up to church the next day! Braden, a marine we taught two weeks ago, also showed up!! Sacrament meeting was fire and the food after was divine. I taught the restoration to Braden with Lorton and Davis (members) and you GUYS the spirit was so strong. He has such a strong testimony and a desire to learn more. We ended up reading 3 Nephi 11 too and it was crazy. We have a lesson this weekend with him! We've also been having daily scripture phone calls with Wetterman which are awesome!! Basically I'm so grateful we get to go on base.
Something I've learned this week is how grateful I am for weakness and trials. Weaknesses make us humble which turn us to God and he can make them strengths (Ether 12:27). A few days ago I was really struggling to let go of some things and the adversary wouldn't stop reminding me of them. I went to God in deep humility/vulnerability and holy cow, I've never felt closer to my Father in Heaven. I am so grateful for trials!
I read "Meeting Jesus in the house of the Lord" by Brother Haynie a few days ago to prepare for the temple today. (It's so amazing- byu speech go listen). He said, "Seek Jesus while participating in temple ordinances. He is why we come to the temple. He is who our Father in Heaven desires us to meet in the temple. He's at the center of every symbol, every ordinance, every covenant, and every hoped-for blessing in the temple." Make time to go to the temple this week and seek Jesus! I learned so much about my Savior today and why He is so necessary to the plan our Heavenly Father has for us.
